A systematic review of fundamental and technical analysis of stock market predictions
Fundamental analysis is a methodology of stock valuation, which evaluates a stock based on its intrinsic value fair value. On the other hand, technical analysis is a methodology of stock valuation, which evaluates a stock based on charts and trends and predicts the future price of the stock. Both methods are used for evaluating the stock and prediction of future stock prices. Still, while fundamental analysis focuses on the intrinsic value of the stock, technical analysis focuses on the past trend of the price movement of stock. Martin Schwartz , a successful wall street trader, gained reputation and wealth due to Technical Analysis. Whereas, Jim Rogers , a popular investor, owes his success to fundamental analysis.
In finance , technical analysis is an analysis methodology for forecasting the direction of prices through the study of past market data, primarily price and volume. The efficacy of both technical and fundamental analysis is disputed by the efficient-market hypothesis , which states that stock market prices are essentially unpredictable,  and research on technical analysis has produced mixed results. The principles of technical analysis are derived from hundreds of years of financial market data.
A Study on Fundamental and Technical Analysis
The stock market is a key pivot in every growing and thriving economy, and every investment in the market is aimed at maximising profit and minimising associated risk. As a result, numerous studies have been conducted on the stock-market prediction using technical or fundamental analysis through various soft-computing techniques and algorithms. The various techniques identified from these reports were clustered into three categories, namely technical, fundamental, and combined analyses. The grouping was done based on the following criteria: the nature of a dataset and the number of data sources used, the data timeframe, the machine learning algorithms used, machine learning task, used accuracy and error metrics and software packages used for modelling.
